Another summer day....

After the kids took a walk with Brian this evening, they had a little treat afterwards.
On another note, the other day I was driving with the kids and I heard a word from the backseat that I was a bit bothered by. Macy, our little parrot that is repeating everything lately, said a word that I can't even type. I kept asking her, "What did you say?" Again, and again I heard this word I couldn't believe I was hearing. My sweet little girl was saying something I don't even say! When I came to a stop light I turned around to look at her, thinking that watching her mouth move would make the word coming out if it be different. It didn't work. But I did notice what it was she was pointing to. I couldn't help but laugh. It was a frog. Since then the words fork and duck are sounding suspicious as well.

Play day

Connor had a bit of a rough day, his teeth are still bothering him. I took them to the office today to nap for the first time there. It went ok, but not great. We are hoping the kids can take naps down at the office about 3 times a week so I can help out at the office more.
After nap we came home and and we (I) blew up the pool for the first time and the kids had a ball! After the way Macy acted in Virginia at the pool I was a little worried she wouldn't have fun. Boy was I wrong! The kids had SO much fun! We had dinner outside on our new picnic table from GiGi. The kids were hilarious! It was a good afternoon and evening.

Connor's teeth
Connor had a high temperature that began yesterday. I thought it was too high to be teeth, but he finally let me look in his mouth this evening and his two final molars are coming in. It has never bothered me when the kids are teething, but it has hit me pretty hard that these are his last two teeth! Never again will he be teething. I can't explain why this hit me hard, but it has. It's one of those moments...

Picture Day
Oh what a day! Actually, picture day was yesterday but I was so exhausted from it all I couldn't write! We had two sittings done yesterday. One sitting at Portrait Innovations where you can get a whole bunch of pictures for only $10, and that was the picture of the twins together. We did this one in the morning. I do believe it was one of the worst mommy moments I've ever had. Let me explain...Everyone was in a good mood, full, well rested, etc. Everything you hope for on picture day, right?? Well, once we walked into our little picture room the mood changed. Macy of course was shy, but nice. Connor however was screaming. And when I say screaming, I mean ear piercing screaming.
Brian had gone with us to help, and maybe even get in a couple shots. He thought we should "be consistant" and discipline Connor for his behavior. I however believe picture day is the only day you let things slide and just try to "make nice". So Brian and I were a little miffed at each other, Connor only wants to sit on mommy, and Macy is just sitting there nicely staring at everyone. Brian and I, at the photographers request...how sad, stepped out of the room. All I could hear was Connor screaming and these two wonderful ladies doing everything imaginable to get the kids to smile. We stepped back in after a bit and tried to salvage what we could. We finally called it quits, and decided if he was crying, frowning, screaming, running, etc. in the picture that was going to be the picture. It would be a true representation of them being 2. :)
So, after the picture session was over and we left the little room, Connor was hamming it up! Brian and I looked at each other and couldn't believe it. It was like a switch had gone off! He was smiling, running, laughing, dancing, everything we had been trying to get him to do in the room! Augh! There was ONE picture of the two of them in which he didn't have his mouth wide open in a scream and tears running down his face. That's the one we got. (I almost bought another one, just to be funny, but decided against it!)
While I was paying Connor decided to act up. Again. By this time, there were lots of parents around and I was getting the "can't you control you kid" looks. I was mortified. I have never felt like "THAT" parent before. Never again will I judge a parent based on their kids behavior. Anyway, we left and I never want to show my face in there again.
So, of course we still have one more sitting to go to! The kids ate a good lunch, and went down for a nap. At 2:45 I had to wake Macy up, which wasn't a good start to things. Of course this is the day she decides to take a long nap! We get them changed and I took them to the appointment alone. Brian didn't go with us this time, less stressful. :) A friend that knows the kids well met us there and she took care of one while the other was getting photographed. Connor was a hit. He didn't cry, scream, frown, or throw a tamtrum. It was amazing. I would never have believed this was the same kid. Macy, however, wasn't that into it so she didn't want to smile. Will there ever be a day that I will get both kids to smile at the same time?
By the end of the day I was exhausted. Never again will I schedule multiple sessions on one day. I learned my lesson.
When I get the pictures I'll put them on here. You'll know which are the "bad" session and which are the "good" session pictures!

Laughing...
I know I say this about every stage, but this stage in the kids' life is my favorite. They are so funny! They are talking a lot more, Macy especially. I have a couple funny stories to share with you...
We were at a friends house the other day and as we walked outside to get into the car Connor thought it was time to play outside. My friends little one (the same age as the kids) escaped and he and Connor were running around like banshies together. Funny in its own right, but to add to that Macy walked over to Connor and said, "no, no" (with finger pointed of course)and tapped him on the bottom as if to spank him. We were rolling at this point! Connor of course had no idea she had even touched him but it was one of those moments I wish I had on video.
We were all sitting in the living room just playing. Macy was sitting next to me and I heard her toot. We laughed at it and then she decided to investigate it more. She stood up, leaned over so her hands were on the floor in front of her and inspected underneath her. She was looking for what came out! Cracked us up!
There are hundreds of these little stories. Spend a day with us, you'll have the best laugh you've had in years!

Mother's Day
Today is Mother's Day. We went to early church this morning and at breakfast afterward. The kids sat in a "real" chair today due to lack of highchairs. They did really well actually. They cracked us up all morning. Connor would yell out, "daddy" and Macy would shhh him. At one point yelling back to him, "No screaming, no screaming." So funny.
My Mother's Day present from Brian was him cleaning the house. He recruited the kids to help him. I have video of this and I'm trying to figure out how to get it on the computer. When I do I'll show you.
Mother's Day is and forever will be a day I cherish. It's one of my favorite days of the year.

March for Babies
I know it has taken me awhile. I told you I wasn't going to be able to do this everyday! Anyway, last Saturday we were supposed to walk in the March of Dimes "March for Babies" walk. AJ, Bob, Maddie, Will, Aubri, KK, and GG came to walk with us only to have it cancelled due to weather! It was such a bummer! But instead of sitting around doing nothing, we went to the science museum here in OKC. We had a great day. Afterward, we ate and then the babies napped, as well as most adults! We went and got free ice cream at Braum's before everyone headed home. It really turned out to be a great day!
This week was hectic. We left on Sunday afternoon to go to Pittsburg for a couple days for Papa's birthday. We left Tuesday evening and Connor had a 104 temp. After making sure it was going down, we rushed home only to have the next couple days be not so fun with fever. Macy is starting to have a running nose, but that could be from her teething. Those darn molars! We had our friend Logan over for a playdate all day Thursday and then he and his 2 brothers came over today while their parents went to see Star Trek. We had a great time!
This is Mother's Day weekend and I am sick. Augh. Bad cold and stuff. Brian took the kids on errands with him late this afternoon and brought home a pizza. That was nice. It was some good daddy time, but I was ready for them to home. We had a great pizza dinner, hardly any clean up, and then baths and bed. Nice day.
I tried to get pictures posted of the day, but I am unable to do it for some reason. I'll work on it.

Doctor visit
The kids had their 2 year check ups. Of course they cried as soon as the doctor came in the room. Thankfully Brian was able to meet us at the appointment so he could have one screaming kid and I could have the other. Macy especially hates the doctor. She just has to walk in the room for the tears to start. Connor will at least wait till the doc starts coming for him! Macy is finally on the growth chart for weight and height. She's in the 5th percentile, Connor is in the 10th percentile for weight and height. Everything looks healthy. I was concerned about Connor's hips, he runs while turning his whole body. The doctor looked at his hips and joints and thought everything was fine. That's good. They did get shots. Their second Hep B shot and their MMR. That is what makes me glad Brian came, the nurse doesn't give me much time between kids, so it's hard to soothe one before I have to hold the other one down.
I think Macy is getting another tooth, it would be her first molar. She has been chomping on her fingers for quite awhile, but now the diarrhea has started so the tooth should be here soon. Hopefully!
We are having a quiet day at home getting caught up on laundry, cleaning, and playing with our own toys.

Just another day

Today was a great day. We stayed busy and the kids got to play with their "buddies" while mommy had an appointment. Today was a great reminder of something I had forgotten. Whenever you have a day like yesterday that makes you think, "Really? This is what I signed up for??", the next day is a new day. Wonderful, sweet, kind, funny kids can emerge from the same room you left little monsters last night! It's a beautiful thing.
The other night Macy was having a hard time sleeping so after listening to her for awhile, I went in and rocked her. (something I don't get to do that much of) I always love this time with whoever it is that I'm rocking, alone time with one of the kids is rare, so I soak up what I can. She was laying in my arms and my mind, sadly, was on a million things and not relishing this time as much as usual. I looked down at her and she looked back at me and as straight faced as she could she pressed her lips together and made the "P" sound at me repeatedly and turned away. For some strange reason this struck me as hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing! She took note of that and after I calmed down, she repeated this several times. She never laughed or showed any emotion, just wanted to make me laugh. In the days that have followed, every now and again she will walk straight up to me and pop her "P's" at me and just bring me to tears! She now knows how to make mommy laugh and uses it to her advantage!

2nd Birthday Party

The twins turned 2! It is hard to believe that we were blessed two years ago with Connor and Macy. It seems like yesterday as well as 20 years ago! They are typical 2 year olds...laughing, talking, fighting, running, fighting, eating, fighting, hugging, fighting, etc. Days like today make me wonder what happened to my sweet babies! :) They are definately testing the waters.
Brian is in Seattle with his family and the kids are missing him like crazy. Every other question is "where's daddy?"
